Domestic US taxpayers had their personal return due dates moved from April 15, 2021 to May 17, 2021 to provide relief during the COVID-19 pandemic. Individual taxpayers living and working abroad normally receive an automatic two-month extension to file their returns to June 15, no extension filing is necessary. Despite the relief for domestic based taxpayers, taxpayers living and working abroad must still file by June 15, 2021.
Individual taxpayers who need additional time to file can request a filing extension to October 15 by printing and mailing Form 4868, 'Application for Automatic Extension of Time To File U.S. Individual Income Tax Return'.
